Cocktails for Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Greeting

Thanksgiving is almost here! A day full of food, family, and reflection, Thanksgiving has turned into one of my favorite holidays.  With less than a week to go, now’s the time to grab all of the essentials for a perfect holiday!

Since food is the main focus on Thanksgiving, it is important to pair what you drink with your meal. Classic pairings include wines such as Riesling, Pinot Noir, and sparkling wine (Champagne, Cava, Prosecco, etc.. As far as cocktails go, people tend to stick with the classic cocktails, so as not to distract from the food itself. With the world of cocktails and mixology expanding so much, there are a lot of new and great cocktails that can complement your Thanksgiving dinner quite nicely!

Here are a few of my favorite Thanksgiving cocktails!

Plan Pegau 11-12-13: $25.99

Coming from the famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape region, Domaine du Pegau produces some of the best wines in France. Domaine du Pegau has been making wine organically since 1733 and has been family owned just as long!

Tar, smoke, and musky fruit rise from the glass, however on the palate this wine reminds me of biting into a rich, juicy strawberry. The finish lingers with cherry and white pepper covering your mouth. The wine is as smooth as a baby’s bottom.

This wine with honey glazed ham or peppered turkey on Thanksgiving will be to die for!

raisins

Marcel La  Pierre “Raisins Gaulois”: $17.99

On the nose, this red wine gives you a hint of dark berries and spices with floral notes. On the palate, you get a full bodied taste of fresh cranberry and cherry with gentle tannins on the finish.

This red pairs great with a snowy day, a spicy meal, and of course Thanksgiving dinner!

boundary

Boundary Breaks Med-Dry Riesling: $16.99

This approachable Riesling has delicious tropical flavors and a nice touch of acidity. It is has a natural fruit sweetness to it that makes it delightful to have on its own. It will also pair perfectly with a variety of foods! It is perfect for Thanksgiving, whether you drink it while cooking or with the dinner itself!

Avinyo Petillant: $16.99

This white wine is crisp and delicious! Dry and fresh with a light frizzante on the end, this is a very distinct and unique wine. You pick up light notes of lemon peel and honeysuckle with a light, crisp finish. This wine is the perfect aperitif to entertain your guests with while you’re finishing up the big Thanksgiving dinner!
